We’re
excited to declare that Jessica Alba and Chris Thorne is going to be speaking
this May for the first Disrupt in Brooklyn. Alba last appeared with regard to
Disrupt SF 2012 since the Honest Company was just setting up where her and CEO
David Lee discussed the passion that hard disks founding a startup. These times,
there’s a bit more to speak about.
Alba
and Lee co-founded the actual The Honest Company within 2011, having since
raised $222M via four rounds of funding using the latest round valuing the
organization around $1. 7 billion - all about the back of personal products the
organization says are effective, secure, and, well, honest.
The
company reportedly starting buying public exit in 2015, but that plan may have
changed. The Honest Company may be looking to sell rather than going public,
citing the coolness from the public markets, according to some report in WWD.
This
past year at SXSW, when speaking with Alba and Lee, job interviewer Lindsay
Blakely of Inc. noticed that Lee’s last two startups, LegalZoom as well as
ShoeDazzle, didn’t IPO, therefore she asked: Will the 3rd time be the appeal?
Lee replied, “I adore LegalZoom, I love ShoeDazzle, however the Honest Company
definitely includes a deeper meaning for all of us. ”
“If
the open public markets are open, we may or may not make the most of them, but
we don’t need to take any one route, ” he added.
We’re
thrilled to possess Jessica and Chief Advertising Officer Chris Thorne at
Disrupt to speak about the company’s path from fledgling startup to some
company worth greater than a billion dollars and what the master plan is going
forward. They join our growing listing of Disrupt NY speakers which includes
Giphy’s Alex Chung, Foursquare’s Dennis Crowley, as well as Ellevest’s Sallie
Krawcheck.
Tickets
are still readily available for Disrupt NY and we would love that you should
join us. Or, better still, bring your startup as well as exhibit in Startup
Street.
